Yesterday, CSEA Council 400 lost a member whose memory will forever be engrained in the walls of our Union Hall. Gary Mazzone of East Windsor, was one of the unfortunate passengers on the B-17 that crashed at Bradley yesterday and our entire union is saddened to hear of his sudden passing.
Gary’s forceful and passionate personality was a cornerstone of our Executive Council and he will deeply be missed by so many of our CSEA members and staff. Gary served as the President of our Inspectors Council and a well-respected and important leader in our union for many years. Before serving as President of his Council, Gary served in other office positions within his Council. Our CSEA family stands with his loved ones as they grieve this immeasurable loss and we ask for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
A UCONN and FBI National Academy graduate, it was clear that Gary’s life was centered on public service. From his time as Vernon’s Police Captain to inspector for then-Chief State’s Attorney John Bailey, Gary always brought with him his strong work ethic and a desire to lend a hand to anyone in need. Gary retired in January of this year and became a member of Chapter 410.
Arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Gary is seen here with his son, Brian.
