If you’ve moved within a state, changed your name or want to update your political party affiliation you need to update your voter registration and if you’ve moved states you need to register to vote again. Changes need to be done prior to the deadline to register to vote which in some states could be up to 30 days before the election you wish to participate in.
If you’ve moved within your state, changed your name or want to update your political party affiliation, you can do so by visiting Vote.gov and clicking your State. Most states will allow you to make changes online, but you can also download the National Mail Voter Registration Form (which is accepted by all states except New Hampshire, Wyoming and North Dakota. If you need the form mailed to you then you can contact your local state official to ask for a copy to be mailed to you. You can visit usa.gov/election-office to find your legislator. Complete and sign the form and mail it to the address provided based on your residency. Don’t forget postage
